Project Name: Grange Resources – Potable Water Treatment Plant
Customer Name: Grange Resources
Location: Port Latta, Tasmania
Year Completed: 2013
Project Overview:
Grange Resources operates a pelletising plant with dedicated port facilities in Port Latta, 70 km west of Burnie. Before the installation of the Potable Water Treatment Plant, the pelletising plant used untreated groundwater for the plant use.In 2012, SAS Water Solutions was awarded a contract to supply a treatment plant to turn 43m³/d of groundwater into a reliable source of potable water
Proposed Solution:
Iron was the main contaminant in the water.Ozone is a strong oxidising agent which reacts with iron to form a filterable pin floc.Ozone was retained as the most attractive solutions as it can be produced in-situ and minimises the use of chemicals.
Key Benefits:
The plant produces is fully automated and produces potable water compliant with the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines. The plant was assembled in a 20-ft container and shipped pre-commissioned to Port Latta.Today the treated water is used across the whole plant (showering…) and trucking water is no longer required on site.
